Heavy Equipment and Vehicles
Maintenance
Purpose: To repair and
maintain all heavy equipment at terminal
such as, but not limited to: Grader: D8
Dozer, Cat, Crane, backhoe and trucks:
Duties:
-
Performs maintenance, overhauls,
repairs, installation and operation of
assigned equipment.

Be conversant with various types of
test equipment for fault diagnosis.
-
Troubleshooting and fault finding of
equipment.
-
Ensure adherence to all Company
safety regulations.
-
Assist in the training Nationals –
O.J.T. program.
-
Assists in suggestions for
improvements to facilities/equipment,
as necessary.
-
Performs additional duties as
assigned by Supervision.
Preventative maintenance
-
Perform PM on all heavy and light
vehicles as per the company available
program covering changing of oil,
filters etc.
-
Checks and repairs to break, tires as
and when found necessary.
-
Repairs to all hydraulic systems when
required.
-
Inspection and testing of all
hydraulic hoses and replace if
required.
Engine Overhauls and Maintenance
-
Perform complete engine overhauls,
gearbox overhauls
-
Remove engine from the vehicle and
clean thoroughly
-
Dismantle engine and inspect all
components, replace if necessary.
-
Determine all defective parts and
replace.
-
Check all seals and replace them
if deemed necessary.
-
Assemble engine and test.
-
Install engine on place and test.
-
Record all data, information on the
vehicle file.
Gear Boxes Overhauls and Maintenance
-
Empty oil from gearbox.
-
Inspect all gears for wear and
replace if necessary.
-
Inspect all transmission shafts and
replace if required.
-
Assemble all parts together, fill
with oil and test.
Body Repairs and Maintenance
Auto body repairing
To carry out repair bodies of damaged
vehicles of any kind and for various
types of vehicles efficiently and
professionally. The work shall be of
very high standards and must be to the
satisfaction of the garage supervisor
or the head of maintenance department.
Auto body-spraying
Capable of paint spraying bodies of old
or repaired vehicles of any kind and for
various types of vehicles efficiently
and professionally, his work shall be of
very high standards, he shall also be
able to clean and maintain used
equipment. The Contractor’s work must
be to the satisfaction of the garage
supervisor or the head of the
maintenance department.
